Thanksgiving week is upon us and ample hours for hanging out at home or with friends is just around the corner, so it's time for this year's edition of a tradition I like to call Thanksgiving Week of Deliciousness (see similar posts from 2013 and 2012).
This year's Thanksgiving tastiness was actually inaugurated with my house church's Thanksgiving feast on Friday, and I'm including my contributions to that with the rest of the recipes below.
This year, it looks like my brother will be here for at least part of this week, which means I theoretically can make even more food since there will be two of us to eat it. :) Without further ado, here's what I've got on my list to make this week:
Breakfasts:
- Rosemary Orange Muffins
- Arugula and Crimini Quiche with Almond Meal Crust
- Orange French Toast with Prickly Pear Syrup
- Perhaps some Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls or Pumpkin Monkey Bread - we'll play it by ear
Mains and Sides:
- Moroccan Spiced Roasted Sweet Potatoes - I halved or quartered the sweet potatoes instead of cutting them into fries, which significantly cut down on prep time (pun fully intended).
- Harvest Galette with Gruyere, Acorn Squash, and Caramelized Onions - this time with kabocha squash and kale
- Green Bean and Pearl Onion Casserole - can we all "ooh" and "ahh" over the homemade fried shallots on top? - for Thanksgiving Day gathering with surrogate family number 1
- Prickly Pear-Glazed Roasted Chicken - based on this recipe
- Probably some other stuff, depending on when Josh is here and what we decide to do.
Desserts and Drinks:
- Mulled Cranberry Apple Cider - I halved the cranberry juice, left out the fresh cranberries, used more cloves, and simmered this in my slow cooker instead of on the stove
- Port-Glazed Pear Tart with Rosemary-Cornmeal Crust - also for the Thanksgiving Day gathering
- Coconut Chocolate Pumpkin Pie - for day-after-Thanksgiving gathering with surrogate family number 2
What are you eating this week?
